1st week in Chinese school

1st week is awesome!!

My life as a new teacher in sjk (c) T is already started on 16 Jan 2012. Early in the morning around 7 a.m i had to register at the hotel and went up to level 4 for a briefing regarding our posting. We were arranged according to the school. There were 6 new teachers including me and 4 more to come the next day. The GPK was really friendly and nice. After briefing, we were convoying the GPK to the school. It was a long journey from the hotel to the school. Luckily we were able to reach there safely and on time. Then we met the GB. My first thought of him was he might be very strict and unfriendly kind of GB. Gladly to say, he was the funniest and friendly GB i ever met. He made jokes and treated us very nicely. We were briefed about our condition there and his expectations (which i rather called it hopes) towards us. Then, we continued our journey as teachers there. The first week was our orientation week. We didnt start our teaching yet but we were assigned to do some report and familiarized ourselves with the cultures of the school. Little by little, we were welcomed there. It was awkward at the beginning as there were only 13 Malays teachers and 100 something Chinese teachers. But after a while, i felt so comfortable as the teachers there were very friendly and cooperative. Soooo different with the previous school i went to.

Now i will talk about my tasks there. As i had mentioned in my first post, i was assigned to become BM, ART and PJ teacher for year 2 and 3. I was not-really-in-a-glad-mood the first time i knew about it because i'm a TESL option. Not BM or PJ. Art was still acceptable since i took Art as my minor subject. However, after i had attended the meeting and met the BM's teachers for a guidance, i felt a bit eased. I want to take it as a challenge (even tho there are too many challenge i need to face ^^"). But never mind. As a teacher, i need to prepare myself with unexpected situations like this. So, i will make the best out of it. Find the beauty in every pain in the a** (my fav quote of this year =p).

Now the orientation week ended. We have a Chinese New Year holiday for a week (yippy!!!) and now i'm enjoying my holiday before i crack my brain the next week (starting my teaching). I do hope i can be a good teacher and i will be able to communicate with them by heart. I also hope that they will like me like i love them as my keai pupils. For now, lets enjoy our holiday..yeahhh!!! ^___^"

p/s: to all my chinese friends and those who celebrate Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai!!! May you all bless with Ong~ ^__^
